The Yonkers Public Schools Public Information Department won four merit awards and an honorable mention for excellence in communications from the National School Public Relations Association in its annual Publications & Electronic Media contest.
Two WDMC TV produced videos, Back-to-School Tips and FOCUS: School Choice Process; the School Program Catalog and the District website were honored with Merit Awards. The Annual School Calendar and Handbook was honored with an Honorable Mention.
The National School Public Relations Association is a professional association that advances education with diverse professional communication services and training to its members and other school leaders throughout the United States, Canada and US Dependent Schools worldwide. It's annual Publications and Electronic Media Awards program draws thousands of entries that are judged by a panel of communications and media experts.
The winning entries were produced under the supervision of Jerilynne Fierstein, Communication Officer. The production team includes Maura Pheney, Cory Pipcinski and Geoff Duncanson from WDMC TV Channel 75; Joseph Panella and Maurice Mercado from the Graphics Department; Eric Schoen Press Secretary; Elyse David, website manager; and Johanna DePierro and Ralph Farina, support staff.
