Faces of Gorton, a series of 30 acrylic on canvas portraits produced by the art students at the school,
is on display at the Children's Gallery at the Theodore Young Community Center in White Plains now through April 30.
The opening reception for the artists is Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 5:30-7:00pm.
The students, working under the guidance of art teacher Ms. Samantha Curtis, studied the works of American artists Alex Katz and Chuck Close, and toured the Metropolitan Museum of Art to get a first hand look at their original techniques.
The students photographed their subjects, then produced their portraits in acrylic on 18" x 24" and 24" x 30" canvas. This exhibit is a must see, and is perfect for the entire family. Exhibit hours at the Theodore Young Community Center, 32 Manhattan Avenue in White Plains are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 9:00pm now through April 30, 2010.
